When a child offers us a piece of their work of art, we should never forget to write the date on it, either behind or at the bottom.
These masterpieces are pure joy, with our best intentions or because someone asked them nicely. So full of life and innocence, capturing the moment perfectly.
They are often an accurate snapshot in time and can tell you their favourite TV show, where they went on vacation, or even what they had for dinner. Whether a simple stick figure drawing or something more complex, these pieces are always worth cherishing.
Later, when flipping through your child’s artwork, by adding this date being them will help you position the moment in time and find it practical when building your timeline. Difficult not to think about how fast time is flying by. It seems like they were learning to write their name just yesterday, and now they’re keeping track of the day with a clever little drawing.
Adding this date also applies to other documents, such as greeting cards, printed photos, undated correspondence, or those little notes on which we attached an emotion.
Finally, before dismissing these old documents, you can always take a photo, so keep an electronic copy. This way, they’ll be less perishable, and you won’t have any trouble with storage space shortages!
